From A Preschooler's Perspective
We were having a discussion about what time we all go to bed at night when a preschooler informed us that,"I go to bed at one hundred o'clock ... 'cause it's a long day!
Fun!
One of my primary goals for preschoolers (if not the primary goal) is for every child to really enjoy their initial experience in the school environment. Anyone who spends time in our classroom can quickly observe that we have a very upbeat and joyful approach to teaching and learning. When teachers are regularly having fun with their students, the bond between teacher and student is strengthened, and the children will then let their natural tendencies to enjoy themselves fully emerge. When children are always enjoying themselves, they become more comfortable and confident members of the community of learners. Over my many years as an educator, I have continuously noticed that having fun enhances children's learning and achievement. And even more importantly - having lots of fun in (and outside) of school leads children on the path to having a more joyful,
fun-filled and happy life!
