From a Preschooler's Perspective

Preschooler: "Do you know the ingredients in bacon soup?"
Teacher: "No, what are they?"
Preschooler: "Bacon and soup!"

Family Involvement

Nothing is more important to us in the preschool than having family members welcomed and involved in our program. The extensive presence and involvement of families in our daily activities is one of the philosophical and practical foundations of our approach to teaching young children in a developmentally appropriate manner.

When parents, grandparents, siblings, and cousins join us in the classroom our entire learning community benefits. Each family member brings something special into the preschool and enriches the experience of not only the child that they are related to, but to all of the other children in the group as well.

When parents and other family members are intimately involved in children's educations, the educational experience of those children is greatly enriched. When there is significant family participation on the preschool level, it sets the stage for this involvement to continue as the children move on to their later years in school.

We have found that by working closely with parents, and focusing on family involvement, we are much better able to support children's learning and well-being. We also greatly value and enjoy the presence of all of these important members of our learning community in our preschool classroom. As can easily be seen in the following pictures, the presence of family members helps to make the preschool a very special place!
