Special Events

From a Preschooler's Perspective

A favorite type of pretend play in the preschool is talking on our assortment of play phones. When speaking to each other on these phones the preschoolers typically pretend that they are in different locations (such as at home or work) that are far away from each other. I was having just such a conversation with a preschooler when I asked, "So where are you now?" She of course rolled her eyes at me and said, "I'm right here, right next to you!"

And not just preschoolers say funny things. A second grade sibling recently told me, "You know what Mr. Rob, I look pretty good for my age!"

Special Events

We've had a couple of very special events recently in the preschool!

Panda's brother Henry came in one morning to show the preschooler's his cool erupting volcano. Henry first gave a detailed explanation to the preschoolers of how the volcano works. He then donned a pair of professorial glasses while the preschoolers put on safety goggles. Then Henry proceeded to demonstrate how the volcano erupts to much appreciation from his preschool audience. We finished up his visit by watching some real volcanic eruptions on our computer.

On another day at school, Maci's mom (Brandy) and grandma (Mimi) came in with some awesome pumpkin shaped pieces of wood that they had found. The preschoolers then painted and decorated the pumpkins, which came out looking great. Brandy and Mimi also brought in some Halloween themed cupcakes for the preschoolers to enjoy once they were finished making their wooden pumpkins.

We really enjoy when family members come in to spend time with us in the preschool. And we greatly appreciate when a visit from a family member includes a special activity for the preschoolers to engage in!
